WHAT
MATERIAL SHOULD I PRINT ON?
First, ask yourself... How durable do your signs and labels need to be?
Are you using your labels in a moist, dirty, outdoor, or harsh environment?
Do you need professional looking signs? If you answered yes, to any of
these questions, you should choose either polyester or vinyl sheets. If
you answered "no" to these questions, you are probably needing a temporary
sign of some sort and paper should work fine for your printing purposes.
Polyester and Vinyl sheets will give you a more professional looking sign
with that gives you much more durability. Polyester and Vinyl signs will
last longer and look better in nearly every place you use them.
DO I USE PRE-PRINTED OR BLANK SHEETS?
If you have a printer that prints color, go ahead and use the blank polyester,
vinyl or paper sheets. Your printer will take care of making a full color
sign or label. If you want to save on ink in your ink jet or toner in
your laser printer, then use the pre-printed media that suits your needs.
Otherwise, if you have a black and white printer select the pre-printed
media that will suit your needs for making a full-color sign or label.
WHY IS ADHESIVE BACKING IMPORTANT?
Adhesive backing on paper, polyester and vinyl sheets gives you instant
mounting capability. You don't have to worry about hanging signs with
any extra accessories. There is another reason, too! You can make rigid
signs that can be bolted or hung on walls, celings and equipment if you
use the MaxiSoft Rigid sign making blanks. (part number 2020) Simply print
out your sign on polyester or vinyl media, stick the sign to the mounting
blank and overlaminate the sign using the UV Hand laminating sheets that
are included with the rigid sign blanks. Instantly you can have a sign
that works both indoors and outside!
HOW LONG WILL THE SIGNS AND LABELS LAST?
That is determined by where you use the sign or label, your printer and
what you expose the sign and label to. Its nearly impossible to factor
in all the variables that come along with sign and label making and their
use, but we can give you some information on the material and adhesive
durability. Laser Vinyl: Laser vinyl is a premium 3.5 gauge polymeric
PVD with a matte topcoating to provide a superior toner anchorage in computer
generated imaging systems. The special topcoating permits high resolution,
scuff resistant imaging on standard laser printers. Chemical resistance:
Good resistnace to common cleaning solutions, alcohol, ammonia, water
and humididty. Adhesive: Adhesion: (lbs/inch) 3.0, minimum application
temperature +40?F, Service Range, -30?F - 200?F. If you're looking for
truly durable labels, laminating your labels, markers, signs, and tags
is the best method to insuring your items work.
